Where teens enjoy outdoor adventure camp activities, earn SSL hours, and develop leadership and Camp Counselor skills
Our program for Junior Counselors provides an excellent training ground for teens who are interested in taking on more responsibility, earning SSL hours, and getting valuable work experience, in addition to making new friends and enjoying summer fun.
Junior Counselors are under the direction and guidance of a Program Director who meets with them throughout the day to assist them in their training process. The Director will instruct them on their duties, the requirements of their role as assistants to camp staff, and “debrief” with them daily to assess their job performance and resolve any challenges in their work. The Director will try to place each Junior Counselor within the Butler Camp program of his or her choice.
In addition to their training and responsibilities, Junior Counselors will also have fun! They will participate in team-building activities on our on-site ropes challenge course. Junior Counselors will also enjoy one unique off-site “adventure day” during each session, engaging in whitewater rafting, rock climbing, or caving with their fellow Junior Counselors and led by an older, certified Counselor.
